Why is Christ the only foundation of the church?

Answered in 1 source

Christ is the sole foundation of the church because no other foundation can support the weight of salvation and holiness.

In 1 Corinthians 3:11, Paul explicitly states that no one can lay a foundation other than that which is already laid, which is Jesus Christ. This underscores the exclusivity of Christ as the cornerstone of God’s redemptive work. It is through Christ's life, death, and resurrection that believers find their identity, righteousness, and assurance of salvation. Furthermore, all doctrine and church activities must align with this foundation, as they are designed to glorify Christ and encourage believers. Any attempt to introduce other fundamental beliefs or practices compromises the integrity of the church and its mission.
