Why is Christ the principal object of faith?

Answered in 1 source

Christ is the sole object of faith because belief in God is impossible without belief in Christ.

In sovereign grace theology, Christ is understood to be the principal object of faith. Without Christ, there can be no true faith, as stated in 1 John 5:11-12: 'And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.' This indicates that belief in God must result in belief in Christ, as He is the one through whom we understand and receive salvation. As Henry Mahan illustrates, one cannot believe in a God they do not know or have access to apart from Christ, who reveals God to us. Thus, faith cannot function independently of Christ; He is essential for our spiritual sustenance and salvation.
