Why is Christology important for Christians?

Answered in 1 source

Christology reveals the person and work of Christ, which is foundational for understanding our salvation.

Christology, the study of the nature and work of Christ, is vitally important for Christians as it informs our understanding of who Jesus is and what He has accomplished for us. Ephesians 1 is an excellent example, as it emphasizes Christ's central role in salvation. Verses such as Ephesians 1:7 reveal that in Christ, we have redemption through His blood, emphasizing the significance of His sacrificial death and resurrection. A robust Christology leads to a deeper appreciation of God's grace, as we understand that our salvation relies entirely on Christ's completed work, not on our own efforts. Furthermore, by knowing Christ's nature as fully God and fully man, believers can trust Him to intercede for us, assure of His promises, and confidently await His return.
