Why is communion significant for Christians?

Answered in 2 sources

Communion is significant as it is a reminder of Christ's sacrifice and serves to deepen our relationship with Him through remembrance and reflection.

The ordinance of communion holds immense significance for Christians as it serves as both a memorial and a proclamation of Christ's death until He returns (1 Corinthians 11:26). When partaking of the bread and cup, we remember the depths of Christ's suffering and the high cost of our redemption. This act stimulates both reflection and worship, enabling us to express gratitude for the grace shown to us despite our unworthiness. Additionally, it serves as a means of grace that aids in spiritually nourishing the believer, fostering a closer communion with Christ. As we approach the Table of the Lord, it emphasizes our communal bond as the body of Christ and the unity we share in Him.
