Why is confessing our unknown sins important for Christians?

Answered in 1 source

Confessing unknown sins is crucial because it brings us into the experience of God’s forgiveness, as we acknowledge our need for grace.

Confession of unknown sins is fundamental in the life of a believer because it is an act of humility and dependence upon God's grace. As articulated in Leviticus 4, sin must be acknowledged to be atoned for appropriately. This relates deeply to the believer’s experience of forgiveness through faith in Christ. If believers do not confess their sins, they cannot actively seek or know the forgiveness that Christ has provided. The process of confession illuminates our inherent sin nature, thereby propelling us towards the grace that transforms us, affirming our ongoing relationship with God and His assurance that He will forgive us when we earnestly seek Him.
