Why is confidence in Christ essential for believers?

Answered in 1 source

Confidence in Christ provides believers with strength and assurance against worldly fears and spiritual enemies.

Believers are called to place their confidence entirely in Christ, the source of their strength and salvation. Psalm 27:1 states, 'The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?' This verse encapsulates the essence of our confidence, which is anchored in the truth that Christ has already accomplished our redemption. Through His death and resurrection, He has disarmed our greatest enemies—sin and death—making it possible for us to face life’s challenges without fear. Romans 8:37 reminds us that we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. Therefore, true confidence stems from understanding our union with Christ and His victorious work on our behalf, empowering us to live boldly in faith.
