Why is continual forgiveness important for Christians?

Answered in 2 sources

Continual forgiveness is important as it maintains our relationship with God and keeps us aware of our dependence on His grace.

While the believer's position before God is secure in Christ—being always forgiven—this reality does not negate the need for continual acknowledgment of sin and seeking God's forgiveness in our daily walk. Psalm 51 exemplifies this as David, despite being a child of God, pleads for a clean heart and renewal of spirit. This reflects the ongoing nature of sanctification and the need for believers to stay humble, repentant, and reliant on God's mercy for sustenance and joy in their faith. Such a posture honors God's holiness and allows for deeper communion with Him.
