Why is conviction of sin essential for believers?

Conviction of sin is a critical aspect of the Christian experience, as it reveals our need for a Savior and our inability to attain righteousness on our own. As Paul wrote in Romans 7, the law exposes sin for what it is—an internal reality that reveals our true condition before a holy God. The work of the Holy Spirit in convicting us of our sin prepares our hearts to understand the grace and mercy available in Christ. Without recognizing our sinfulness, we cannot fully appreciate the depth of His love and the significance of His sacrifice, ultimately motivating our response of faith and devotion.
