Why is courage important for Christians?

Answered in 1 source

Courage empowers Christians to face challenges and fulfill God's calling in their lives, despite opposition.

Courage is vital for Christians as it enables them to confront fears and challenges while remaining faithful to God's calling. In the face of opposition—be it from family, friends, or society—believers are called to stand firm in their faith. This courage stems from a reliance on God’s strength rather than their own. David’s encounter with Goliath exemplifies this courage; despite ridicule from his brother and doubt from King Saul, David remained steadfast, confident that God who aided him before would do so again. Therefore, having courage is essential for obedience and fruitfulness in the Christian life, reflecting trust in God’s abilities (Philippians 4:13).
