Why is dependency on God emphasized in the Bible?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible emphasizes dependency on God to acknowledge our need for His guidance and sustenance (Psalm 23:1).

Scripture continually calls us to place our dependence on God as the source of our life and sustenance. In Psalm 23:1, David proclaims, 'The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want,' indicating that true contentment comes from realizing our complete dependence on Him. This is essential in our journey of faith, as it encourages us to cast our cares upon Him and seek His direction in all aspects of our lives (1 Peter 5:7). Our dependency emphasizes our helplessness without Him, helping us recognize that every good and perfect gift comes from the Father (James 1:17).
