Why is drawing near to God important for Christians?

Answered in 9 sources

Drawing near to God is essential for Christians as it provides comfort, peace, and spiritual fulfillment through a relationship with Him.

Drawing near to God is vital for Christians because it forms the foundation of our relationship with Him. In Psalm 73:28, the psalmist declares, 'But it is good for me to draw near to God.' This act allows believers to experience God's presence, receive His grace, and be strengthened in faith. When we draw near, particularly through prayer, worship, and the study of His Word, we are assured of His mercy and find rest for our souls (Matthew 11:28). Furthermore, acknowledging our dependence on Him—recognizing our inability to approach Him without Christ—deepen our relationship and cultivates a heart of true worship.
