Why is edification important for Christians?

Answered in 5 sources

Edification, or building up one another in faith, is crucial for maintaining unity and promoting peace within the Christian community.

In Romans 14:19, believers are encouraged to pursue peace and the things that promote edification among one another. The act of edifying fellow Christians fosters a supportive and caring community that reflects the love and grace of Christ. When Christians focus on building each other up instead of tearing each other down, they create an environment conducive to spiritual growth and harmony. This means being willing to forbear one another and put the health of the community above personal preferences. As a result, the church can fulfill its mission of reflecting Christ's love to the world while nurturing each other in faith.
