Why is edification important for Christians?

Answered in 2 sources

Edification is essential for building up the body of Christ and ensuring spiritual growth among believers.

The Apostle Paul emphasizes in his letters, including here in 2 Corinthians 12:19, that all actions taken by apostles and fellow believers should aim toward the edification of the body of Christ. Edification involves nurturing, encouraging, and building up fellow believers in their spiritual journey. As members of one body, Christians are called to work together for each other's growth and maturity in faith. This collective responsibility fosters unity, strengthens the church, and glorifies God as believers reflect His love and truth in their interactions. Therefore, valuing and pursuing edification is fundamental to the Christian life.
