Why is faith considered precious in Christianity?

Answered in 2 sources

Faith is precious in Christianity because it is a gift from God, instrumental in experiencing salvation and grace.

Faith, as described in 1 Peter 1:7, is more precious than gold, even though it goes through trials. The preciousness of faith lies in its divine origin; it is not something that can be conjured up by human will. Ephesians 2:8 states that we are saved by grace through faith, and this faith is not of ourselves but a gift from God. Therefore, it cannot be bought or earned, reinforcing that salvation is entirely a work of grace. In essence, faith is integral to our relationship with Christ, allowing believers to trust in the finished work of God for their salvation and to rejoice in His promises.
