Why is faith essential for establishing the law?

Answered in 1 source

Faith is essential as it allows believers to fulfill the law's demands through Christ's righteousness.

In Romans 3:31, the Apostle Paul argues that faith does not nullify the law; rather, it establishes it. This establishment comes from the believer's union with Christ, who perfectly fulfilled the law on behalf of His people. When a believer puts their faith in Christ, they receive His righteousness, which is counted as fulfilling the law in its entirety. Therefore, through faith, believers are justified and considered as having established the law, as God sees them through Christ's completed obedience. This understanding emphasizes that it is not the believer's own works but rather Christ's work that establishes the law, and believers are called to live in light of that reality.
