Why is faith important in maintaining hope?

Faith serves as the connection between our hope and the promises of God. Just as an anchor must be secured to the ship to be effective, our hope must be gripped by faith. Faith is the means by which we lay hold of the hope set before us, allowing us to trust in God's goodness and mercy throughout our journey. When storms of doubt and adversity arise, it is faith that helps us to remember that our anchor—hope—is firmly fastened to the ultimate rock, which is Christ.
