Why is faith important in salvation?

Answered in 11 sources

Faith is crucial in salvation as it is the means by which we receive God's grace, believing in the finished work of Christ.

Faith, as outlined in Ephesians 2:8-9, works together with grace in the process of salvation. It is through faith that we embrace and receive the grace offered to us. Without faith, it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6), as faith is the evidence of things hoped for and the assurance of things not seen. Effective faith acknowledges our total dependence on Christ for salvation, as we cannot contribute anything to earn it. Faith thus becomes a personal acceptance of God's grace in our lives.
