Why is faith in Christ essential for acceptance with God?

Answered in 1 source

Faith in Christ is essential because He is the only mediator through whom we can be justified and accepted by God.

Faith in Christ is crucial for acceptance with God because, as the Scriptures reveal, our righteousness is like 'filthy rags' (Isaiah 64:6). Only through faith in Jesus Christ can we attain true righteousness, which is given to us as a gift. Without Christ, all our attempts to earn favor with God through religious acts are worthless and cannot cleanse us from sin. Jesus is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world (John 1:29), and through His blood, we have access to God. In Isaiah 1, God makes it clear that religion without faith in Christ is detestable, and only by believing in Him can our scarlet sins be made white as snow.
