Why is faith in Christ essential to salvation?

Answered in 1 source

Faith in Christ is essential because it is through personal trust in Him that we receive and experience salvation.

Faith in Christ is not merely an intellectual assent to doctrines but involves personal trust in Jesus as our Savior. Ephesians 1 indicates that our salvation is obtained through faith in Christ, which connects us to the grace bestowed upon us. It is through hearing the gospel, considered the 'word of truth,' that the Holy Spirit awakens faith in our hearts, allowing us to trust fully in Jesus. This personal trust is the means through which we fully realize our salvation and claim it as our own, as stated in Romans 10:17: 'So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.'
