Why is faith in Christ essential when using the Word of God?

Answered in 1 source

Faith in Christ is essential because the Word of God is meant to strengthen our relationship with Him.

Faith in Christ is paramount when engaging with the Word of God, as the Scriptures point unequivocally to Him. The effectiveness of Scripture is reliant on its ability to strengthen and deepen one’s faith in Christ, as emphasized in the sermon. Without a relationship with Jesus, the words found within the Bible could become mere texts devoid of transformative power. It is through understanding and belief in Christ that the believer can wield the Sword of the Spirit effectively, experiencing both conviction of sin and the comfort of God's promises.
