Why is faith not a work that saves us?

Answered in 1 source

Faith is a gift from God that results from being born again, not a work that earns salvation.

In Reformed theology, faith is understood as a result of God's regenerating work in a person's heart. It is not the cause of salvation, but the response to it. Ephesians 2:8-9 clarifies that we are saved by grace through faith, and this faith is not of ourselves; it is the gift of God. This underscores the truth that our salvation is entirely from God’s sovereign grace, nullifying any human boasting in works or personal decisions.
