Why is faith tested according to Scripture?

Answered in 1 source

Faith is tested to prove its authenticity and to strengthen the believer's trust in God.

According to 1 Peter 1:7, faith is tested for several reasons. Firstly, testing reveals the authenticity of one's faith. Just as a goldsmith tests gold by fire to remove impurities, God tests our faith to confirm that it is genuine and reliable. Secondly, trials serve to strengthen our relationship with God. When faith is put to the test, believers lean more heavily on Christ, which promotes spiritual growth and maturity. Ultimately, trials draw us nearer to God and prepare us for His glory at Christ's appearing.
