Why is familiarity with the Gospel dangerous for Christians?

Answered in 1 source

Familiarity with the Gospel can lead to undervaluing its importance and the privileges of grace we have through it.

The danger of familiarity with the Gospel lies in the tendency to treat sacred truths with contempt or indifference. The people of Nazareth, despite recognizing Jesus' authority, dismissed Him because they knew Him too well, failing to appreciate the profound truth of His messages. This phenomenon is similar in our own lives, where the abundance of resources such as the Bible, sermons, and communal worship can cause us to take them for granted, thus undermining the depth of our faith. It is crucial for believers to approach the means of grace with reverence, recognizing their significance and the rich mercies contained within them.
