Why is feeding the flock of God important for pastors?

Answered in 1 source

Feeding the flock is vital because spiritual growth and vitality depend on the Word of God.

The flock of God, composed of believers, requires nourishment through His Word to thrive spiritually. Peter's charge to elders to 'feed the flock of God' emphasizes the necessity of Scripture in his ministry (1 Peter 5:2). Pastors are responsible for teaching and preaching the Word, which convicts of sin, reveals Christ’s righteousness, and fosters spiritual growth (Romans 10:17). Without this nourishment, the church cannot flourish, as it diminishes in faith and understanding. Thus, pastors must diligently engage with and proclaim the truth of Scripture as their core pastoral duty.
