Why is generosity a proof of love in Christianity?

Answered in 1 source

Generosity reflects the authenticity of love as it seeks to actively bless others and expresses the heart of God.

Generosity is a significant testament to the love we claim to have as Christians. In 2 Corinthians 8, Paul encourages believers to show the proof of their love through their willingness to give, indicating that true love is active and seeks to provide for others in need. Love that does not translate into action, particularly in the form of giving, is unsubstantiated. Our generous actions towards others reflect the love that God has for us in Christ, who gave Himself completely for our sake. Thus, generosity is not just a duty, but an expression of genuine love that flows from the heart transformed by grace.
