Why is God's holiness essential for understanding salvation?

Answered in 2 sources

God's holiness is essential for understanding salvation because it highlights the necessity of Christ's sacrifice for our sins.

Understanding God's holiness is vital for grasping the full picture of salvation. God is utterly holy, and His perfect justice cannot overlook sin. This reality was poignantly demonstrated in the sacrifice of Christ, where He bore the sins of His people (Psalm 22:3). When Jesus cried out, 'My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?' He acknowledged the holiness of God that necessitated His forsaking due to the sin borne. Thus, salvation is rooted in this holy nature of God, making it clear that reconciliation with Him can only be accomplished through the blood of Christ, who makes His people holy, unblameable, and unreprovable in His sight.
