Why is God’s love important for salvation?

Answered in 3 sources

God's love is important for salvation because it is through His love that we are given life and redemption through Christ.

God's love is central to the gospel message because it is this love that initiated our salvation. Romans 5:8 states, 'But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.' This illustrates that God's love was not contingent upon our actions or worthiness; instead, it was freely given, guiding Him to sacrifice His Son for our redemption. The immensity of God's love ensures that His justice is met while simultaneously providing mercy to sinners. When we understand the depth and sacrificial nature of His love, we can fully appreciate the grace extended to us in salvation, which is not based on our merit but entirely on His divine will and purpose.
