Why is God's name considered sacred?

Answered in 1 source

God's name is sacred because it represents His character and authority, and using it irreverently brings dishonor to His holiness.

The Name of God embodies His essence and attributes, making it profoundly sacred and worthy of reverence. In the Scriptures, we see that God's name is associated with His holiness, power, and truth, and we are commanded not to take it in vain (Exodus 20:7). To treat His name lightly or irreverently is not just a matter of utterance but reflects a heart attitude that underestimates His glory. Thus, the way we speak of and to God reveals much about our understanding of His majesty and our relationship with Him.
