Why is God's sovereignty essential in salvation?

Answered in 1 source

God's sovereignty ensures that He alone is able to change hearts, enabling the dead to respond to His call.

God's sovereignty is foundational in salvation because it affirms that salvation is entirely His work, not a result of human effort. As stated in Ephesians 2:1, we are spiritually dead and incapable of responding to God unless He intervenes. This dialectic illustrates that no one can come to faith unless God regenerates them first (John 3:3). Understanding God’s sovereignty liberates believers from the notion that they must contribute to their salvation, allowing them instead to rest fully in His grace and power. This draws attention to the majestic and glorious nature of God, who accomplishes all His purposes, including our redemption.
