Why is godliness considered a work of God?

Answered in 1 source

Godliness is a work of God as it involves His continuous work in transforming believers into Christ's image.

Godliness is described as a work of God because it is not something we achieve through our own efforts but rather something that God produces within us. As stated in Ephesians 2:10, we are His workmanship created in Christ Jesus for good works. This process involves a transformation where the believer is conformed to the image of Christ through the work of the Holy Spirit. True godliness manifests not only in knowledge but also in character—the fruit of the Spirit, which includes love, joy, and peace—demonstrating outwardly the internal change God orchestrates in the life of a believer.
