Why is grace essential in building the Church?

Answered in 1 source

Grace is essential because the Church cannot be built by human effort but only through God's unmerited favor.

The sermon emphasizes that the walls of God's Church cannot be rebuilt by human strength or works, as they ultimately lead to ruin. Man's attempts at righteousness may seem commendable, but they are viewed by God as insufficient and corrupted (Isaiah 64:6). It is only through God's grace that the Church can be built; this grace is imparted through the redemptive work of Christ, who established a new covenant by His blood. The Apostle Paul understood this truth, learning that his zealous religious efforts were in vain until he encountered the grace of God in Christ (Ephesians 2:8-9). Thus, grace is foundational for the growth and health of the Church, as it is God who builds, not man.
