Why is grace essential to gospel preaching?

Answered in 1 source

Grace is the cause and the subject of true gospel preaching, as it is through God's grace that both preaching and salvation occur.

Grace saturates the entirety of gospel preaching; it is the foundation upon which preaching stands and what preaching aims to convey. In Acts 14:26, the term 'recommended to the grace of God' points to the divine initiative in the work of preaching. Without God’s grace, there is no message of redemption; it is through grace that we understand our need and Christ’s provision. True preaching not only extols God’s grace but is also a result of it, illustrating how God sovereignly orchestrates the ministry of the word for the salvation of his chosen people.
