Why is grace important for keeping the Sabbath?

Answered in 1 source

Grace is essential because genuine adherence to the Sabbath cannot be achieved through law but only through faith in Christ's completed work.

Sovereign grace teaches that the law, including the Sabbath, points to our need for a Savior rather than serving as a means of achieving holiness through effort. In Galatians 3, Paul explains that those who seek righteousness through law are under a curse, denoting the futility of trusting in works. True Sabbath rest is found in the grace given by God through Jesus, who fulfills all righteousness and offers us His peace. Our observance of the Sabbath as believers is no longer about legalistic adherence but rather a celebration of the grace bestowed upon us through Christ’s sacrifice which fulfills the law’s demands.
