Why is having a good name important for Christians?

Answered in 2 sources

A good name reflects a believer's character and testimony, demonstrating God's grace and truth in their life.

In Ecclesiastes 7:1, Solomon states, 'A good name is better than precious ointment.' For Christians, a good name represents integrity and character that is reflective of Christ's work in their lives. It carries weight in the community and among fellow believers, as it speaks to one's faith and trust in God. Furthermore, the believer's identity is fundamentally rooted in Christ, who is referred to as our righteousness (1 Corinthians 1:30). By living out our faith authentically and sincerely, we cultivate a reputation that honors God and draws others to Him.
