Why is having a pure heart a privilege for believers?

Answered in 1 source

Having a pure heart allows believers to experience God and His blessings in a unique and profound way.

In Matthew 5:8, Jesus declares, 'Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.' This promise of seeing God highlights the privilege that comes with possessing a pure heart. Not only does it confer the blessedness of inner joy and peace, but it also grants believers the ability to perceive God's glory and to experience His presence. The pure in heart have undergone a transformation through salvation, receiving a new heart that is aligned with God's will and desires. Consequently, they can recognize and appreciate God's majesty and goodness throughout their lives, both now and in the eternal state, where they will see Him face to face. Therefore, purity of heart is intrinsically tied to the joy and assurance of seeing God, now in faith and one day in glory.
