Why is having Christ’s righteousness important for Christians?

Answered in 2 sources

Christ's righteousness is vital for Christians because it is the only means by which believers can stand righteous before God, rather than their own flawed righteousness.

Having Christ's righteousness is crucial for Christians because, in God's eyes, our own righteousness is insufficient and flawed. The scriptures illustrate that, as sinners, we cannot achieve the holiness required for salvation on our own. Instead, 2 Corinthians 5:21 states that 'He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.' This profound exchange highlights the necessity of Christ's righteousness; it is only through faith in Him that we are justified and able to stand before God. Moreover, without possessing His righteousness, Christians would be lost in their sin, unable to experience the fullness of salvation and true reconciliation with God.
