Why is having faith in Christ crucial for salvation?

Answered in 1 source

Faith in Christ is essential for salvation as it is through Him that we are justified and receive eternal life.

Faith in Christ is the means by which we accept the truth of the gospel, which proclaims that Jesus is the sole mediator between God and man. As Romans 5:1 declares, being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. This indicates that apart from this faith, no one may stand justified before God. The message of the gospel, as noted in Genesis 15 and further articulated in the New Testament, points to the work of Christ as the ultimate sacrifice. Without faith, we cannot claim that Christ's righteousness is credited to us, nor can we hope in the eternal life promised to those who believe in Him.
