Why is humility essential in prayer?

Answered in 1 source

Humility is essential in prayer because it aligns our hearts with God’s will and acknowledges our dependence on His grace.

Humility is fundamental in prayer as it reflects an understanding of our own sinful nature and need for God's mercy. Jesus taught that a humble heart is the only one that God will hear, as seen in Luke 11 when He instructs that we should come before God acknowledging His holiness and our unworthiness. The Bible repeatedly emphasizes humility, such as in James 4:10, where it says, 'Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.' Recognizing that we bring nothing to the table except our need for grace transforms the way we approach God in prayer. A heart that seeks God with humility is prepared to receive His answers and guidance.
