Why is humility important for Christians seeking God's grace?

Answered in 1 source

Humility is crucial because God brings sinners down to the dust of realization before they can truly seek His grace and mercy.

In the journey of faith, humility is a prerequisite for receiving God's grace. As seen with the Prodigal Son, the process of his return to the father begins with a recognition of his need and acceptance of his worthlessness as a son. This humbling experience is essential for transformation; God does not save those who view themselves as inherently good. To embrace God’s mercy, one must first be brought low, recognizing that apart from His grace, one is utterly bankrupt in spirit. This posture of humility opens the heart to the overwhelming love and forgiveness God offers to all who seek Him.
