Why is humility important for receiving God's grace?

Answered in 2 sources

Humility is essential for receiving God’s grace because it allows us to recognize our need for salvation.

Humility is a crucial aspect of the Christian experience, as evidenced in Naaman's journey towards healing. Initially, Naaman's pride prevented him from obeying the simple instruction of dipping in the Jordan. It was only after he was humbled by the encouragement of his servants that he complied, leading to his healing (2 Kings 5:13-14). This illustrates that recognizing our lowly state is vital for receiving God's grace. James 4:6 states that God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble, showing that those who acknowledge their need for divine assistance are met with God's mercy. Our spiritual pride can blind us to the truth of our condition, but when we come before God in humility, we open ourselves to His cleansing and transformative power.
