Why is humility important in Christian life?

Answered in 1 source

Humility is vital as it acknowledges our true sinful nature and dependence on God's grace for salvation (Proverbs 21:4-5).

Humility is essential in the Christian life because it recognizes our inherent sinfulness and inability to achieve righteousness on our own. Proverbs 21:4-5 speaks to the proud heart which distorts one's understanding of spiritual reality, leading to a false sense of self-sufficiency. According to the sermon, without humility and the acknowledgment of our helplessness, we resist the fundamental truth of salvation by grace. Recognizing our need for God's mercy allows us to submit to His grace, leading to true repentance and, ultimately, salvation.
