Why is humility important in giving?

Answered in 1 source

Humility in giving ensures that our actions align with God's will and are not performed for personal recognition.

Humility is crucial in the act of giving because it shifts the focus away from ourselves to God’s grace and mercy. If giving is done with the motive of seeking recognition or praise from men, it becomes tainted and loses its eternal value. Matthew 6 urges us to give in such a way that our left hand does not know what our right hand is doing—indicating that our giving should be a private matter between us and God, free from the influences of pride and self-interest. When we approach giving with true humility, we reflect Christ's character, who gave Himself selflessly for the poor and needy, representing the ultimate expression of grace and mercy.
