Why is humility important in making judgments?

Answered in 1 source

Humility is vital in judgment because it reminds us of our own faults and our need for mercy.

Humility is crucial when making judgments because it helps us recognize our own imperfections. When Jesus speaks in Matthew 7:3-5 about the beam in our own eye, He highlights how easily we can become blind to our faults. A humble spirit allows us to see our need for mercy and encourages us to withhold harsh judgment from others. As Paul states in 1 Corinthians 11:31, 'If we would judge ourselves, we would not be judged.' This self-examination fosters a compassionate attitude, enabling us to bear one another's burdens rather than condemning them.
