Why is humility important in prayer for Christians?

Answered in 1 source

Humility is essential in prayer as it reflects our recognition of our need for God’s grace.

The essence of true prayer involves coming to God with a humble heart, acknowledging our unworthiness and reliance on His mercy. This humility is crucial because, without it, we may fall into pride, thinking our prayers are about our eloquence rather than our need for divine help. Just as Jacob prayed humbly, stating he was not worthy of God's mercies, we too must approach God recognizing our fallen state. When we exhibit humility in prayer, our requests become a genuine plea for God's grace rather than an assertion of our own righteousness, allowing God to respond favorably to our cries.
