Why is humility important in seeking salvation?

Answered in 1 source

Humility is crucial because it allows us to acknowledge our inability to save ourselves and turns us to Christ for grace.

Humility is essential in the quest for salvation, as illustrated in the contrast between the rich young ruler and the call to be like a child in faith (Mark 10:15). The rich young man approached Christ with pride in his law-keeping, unaware of his spiritual poverty and need for grace. In contrast, Jesus teaches that entry into the Kingdom requires a willingness to become humble and dependent, much like a child. God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble (James 4:6). Thus, true acknowledgment of our need for salvation can only come from a heart that is humbled and teaches us to approach God free from preconceived notions, allowing Him to teach us His truth.
