Why is humility important in serving God and others?

Answered in 1 source

Humility is crucial in serving God and others because it aligns us with God's attitude and allows us to be effective vessels for His purposes.

Humility is foundational for service as articulated in Romans 12:3, where Paul instructs us not to think of ourselves more highly than we ought. A humble heart recognizes that all we have, including our talents and gifts, has been graciously given by God. Pride, on the other hand, clouds our judgment and isolates us from others. When we serve from a place of humility, we reflect Christ's character, who came not to be served but to serve (Mark 10:45). This approach fosters unity and love within the church body, promoting a spirit of collaboration rather than competition in our service to one another.
