Why is humility important in the Christian ministry?

Answered in 2 sources

Humility is crucial in the Christian ministry as it reflects a proper understanding of oneself in relation to God and others.

Humility is vital in the Christian ministry because it is essential for genuinely serving the Lord. Paul exemplifies this humility by acknowledging that he is what he is only by the grace of God (1 Corinthians 15:10). A humble minister recognizes his own sinfulness and dependence on God’s grace while being mindful that this grace is what empowers him to serve effectively. This humility creates a heart that is devoted to the needs of others rather than personal ambitions, allowing the minister to lead by example and nurture the flock with compassion. It also safeguards the minister against pride and self-promotion, which can lead to false teaching or misleading behaviors.
