Why is humility important in worship and prayer?

Answered in 1 source

Humility is crucial in worship and prayer as it reflects a heart that recognizes God's supremacy and our dependence on Him.

Humility in worship and prayer acknowledges that we are not the center of attention; rather, God is. In Matthew 6:1-18, Jesus points out that true acts of worship must be devoid of self-promotion and must flow from a heart genuinely seeking to honor God. Humility allows us to approach God with the recognition that it is by His grace we are able to worship at all. It involves confessing our need for mercy and forgiveness, as seen in the prayer for daily bread and forgiveness in chapter 6. This attitude of humility is a mark of true worship and discerning true sincerity before the Lord.
