Why is humility important when seeking God's help?

Answered in 1 source

Humility positions us to receive God's grace and guidance.

In the narrative of Elisha and the widow, humility was a key element of the woman’s approach to seeking help. When she approached Elisha, she recognized her need and openly admitted she had nothing in her house except a pot of oil. This humility allowed her to fully acknowledge her dependence on God and seek assistance. Furthermore, after the miracle, she returned to Elisha with gratitude, demonstrating an understanding that her blessing came from God through His servant. By being humble and receptive, we position ourselves to receive God's guidance and grace, just as this widow did, emphasizing the biblical principle that God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble (James 4:6).
