Why is humility necessary for understanding God's truth?

Answered in 1 source

Humility allows individuals to recognize their need for God and receive the truth, as God has hidden His wisdom from the proud.

God's truth is revealed to those who approach Him with humility and a sense of their own insufficiency. In Matthew 11:25, Jesus acknowledges that the Father has hidden truths from the wise and prudent and revealed them to babes. This highlights that true understanding of God's ways and salvation comes to those who are lowly and recognize their dependence on Him. The proud rely on their insights and intellect, which results in spiritual blindness. A humble heart is necessary to grasp the depth of one's sinfulness and the vastness of God's grace, leading to genuine faith.
