Why is idolatry dangerous for Christians?

Answered in 1 source

Idolatry leads to spiritual ruin and forsaking God's commandments, as shown by Joash's downfall.

Idolatry is a severe danger for Christians because it diverts our worship away from God and leads us into sin. In the case of Joash, after the death of Jehoiada, he succumbed to the influence of idolaters and turned his back on the true worship of God. 2 Chronicles 24 highlights that this transgression led to God's judgment and the ultimate downfall of Joash. As Christians, we are warned against any form of idolatry, whether it be physical idols or the idolatry of self, possessions, or false teachings. The Scriptures remind us that true worship is reserved for God alone and that we must avoid associations with worldly practices that contradict His commandments.
